Our 43rd Wedding Anniversary! The time change messed with my internal clock. I got up an hour early today. Breakfast was eaten and everything was ready to go. Put new destination address in WAYZ application for directions. It sent us on two dirt roads. Both of them were heavily wash boarded. Not fun in a 30-foot-long camper towing a vehicle. We could only go about five miles an hour at this point. But these directions skipped past going back through town to get to the interstate highway. We decided that the motorhome needed a bath at this point in the trip. We drove through the mountains, around Denver, Vail, Copper Mountain, etc. Very scary with lots of road construction and narrow roads. It snowed a couple of times during the drive and there was still snow on the mountain tops and alongside the road. Lots of houses on the mountainside, ski resorts mainly. Several buildings were very high up on the mountain and I wondered how they got up there. We stopped at a gas station to empty one tank and fill up the other. We crossed the Colorado River and went through six tunnels in the mountains. The trees are a gold color that I have not seen in Minnesota. The sun was shining brightly, and the leaves were beautiful to look at. Along the way we saw a car with this license plate: QLTDIVA. Does this refer to anyone reading this? We finally got to Montrose. It was raining pretty hard when we got to the campground and it was very dark. We broke a piece of the awning in the process of getting parked. We decided to keep supper simple, grilled cheese sandwiches as we were both very tired and slightly wet from the rain. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Some scenes along the drive.
