We saw a train derailment that looked like it had been there for quite a while. It was very windy and hard to keep the truck on the road. The wind seemed to be keeping the large windmills turning. One town along the way had a fence lined with homemade windmill decorations. We went to lunch at a Wendy’s and drove through Liberal KS which bills itself as the home of the Wizard of Oz house. There were several old, quaint hotels along the way. After arriving at the hotel in Tucumcari, we had dinner at Del’s Diner on Route 66. We grabbed a few souvenirs and headed to bed.
