We both awoke about 4:30, probably in anticipation of the trip ahead. I went back to sleep while Brian who couldn’t get back to sleep stayed up for another hour. We both woke up again at 6:30 and did some last-minute packing. We pulled out about 7:15 and were on our way back north. We stopped for breakfast at a Love’s truck stop after about an hour’s drive. We switched drivers so that I was now driving. We saw a highway sign that said “Winslow”, so Brian looked to see how far off the highway the town was. It was only about a mile or two, so we decided to stop. We found a place to park and walked to “THE” corner. Brian got his picture taken with the statue of Glenn Frey, Jackson Browne and by the flat-bed Ford. No one under 60 at the corner that day. We also crossed the Continental Divide along the way and arrived in Albuquerque about 6:00. Unloaded the car into the hotel room and drove across the street to Denny’s Restaurant for supper. Back to the hotel room to map out the route for tomorrow’s drive and make a hotel reservation in Wichita. Another long drive tomorrow, but since we are sharing the driving duties, it doesn’t seem so bad.
