Here is a picture of our new furry friend, Grover.  He belongs to the couple in the motorhome beside us. He comes over with his owner almost every day for some treats. He still won't let us pet him, but he will take the treats from our hands.

We made lunch for the RV park on March 3rd.  We did sloppy joes, potato salad, potato chips, and pickles. Another couple did the dessert for the meal, brownies of course. We got some red and white checkered tablecloths and some fake ants for the tables. Trying to make a picnic themed meal for the residents. About 32 people came for lunch.  It was a success and we received many compliments on both the food and the decorations.

Debbie's dad passed away on the 5th. He had fallen down the stairs at his house and wasn't able to recover from the fall. The funeral will be on the 21st back in Buffalo, MN. Unfortunately, Brian and I won't be able to make it back for the funeral. I am writing something to be read at the service. At least this way, I can remember him in good health. We'll have to visit his grave when we get back in April.

Brian called the dance for the Yuma club on the 10th. There were just over four squares dancing that afternoon. It was good to see the dancers after missing last Tuesday. Here's a couple of pictures from the dance.

On March 14th, we drove out to Buckshot, AZ. Buckshot is a name that Brian uses as a joke. Buckshot Jones is a former NASCAR driver, and I think that is where he got the name. We couldn't get to the actual town of Buckshot; it's sort of an unincorporated area that seems to be several motorhomes parked together. But we were able to get a picture of the street marker showing Buckshot Road.

On the 15th, I spent some more time sewing. Since the temperature is way too hot to sew outside, I set up in the air-conditioned club house. I finished the last four table runners that I had cut incorrectly but decided to see how they turned out. I think they turned out fine. They are nice looking, if you ask me.

We went to our last dance with the Yuma club on the 17th. It was sad to think that we won't be dancing with them again, unless we decide to come back to Yuma in the future. We met some really great dancers and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Brian went to the lessons on the 18th for the last time. The class has completed the lessons and are ready to attend the regular dances.

It's been HOT here in Yuma lately, like over 100 degrees. This is about 20-25 degrees above normal. We've been using the air conditioner in the motorhome to try to stay cool. But it's not very well insulated so it's still warm in the motorhome.

We had signed up to go on a dinner cruise on the Colorado River for the 20th. However, due to the heat, the cruise was cancelled. We dug deep into our freezer and found something for supper. Just in time for the power to go out on our part of the park. An electrician was called and we had power back in about an hour. It would have been a hot hour except that Brian started the generator, so we had our own power while the power was out at the park.

The RV Park had a year-end party on the 21st, held inside the club room due to the heat. Brian played Bean Bag Baseball. This game uses a plywood target with holes cut into it to aim for. There were holes for outs, singles, doubles, triples, and home runs. There were four teams playing and there was lots of laughter and high 5's when the bean bag went into the home run hole. Then lunch of hot dogs/hamburgers, coleslaw, baked beans, green beans, and all the fixings was served. Brian and I returned to the motorhome for a quick nap.

We went back to the club room just in time for the horse races. There are six horse heads on posts with a wooden base. Each one is numbered 1-6. One person maneuvers the horse from a starting position and there are six others that are rolling a large die. Whatever number comes up on that die is what number horse gets to move one tile square closer to the finish line. Brian was in the second set of players, and he was on horse number five. I was throwing the die for team number four. My team won that round. We played on the same team for one more round. We didn't win that round, but he did come close. Again, lots of laughter as some horses didn't seem to get the lucky roll of the die and then suddenly had their number called more often.

After the games, there were some door prizes to give away. Brian's ticket was drawn for the grand prize. It was several coupons for the local Bubba's 33 restaurant. We asked John and Karen (Grover's parents) if they would go to dinner with us. We enjoyed the time at the restaurant to get to know them a little bit better. Brian ordered some extra bacon strips to take with us to feed to Grover. He enjoyed one when we got back to the park. We will miss them when we leave on the 24th.
