It rained during one night which was out of the ordinary for Yuma. There were lots of puddles in parking lots and along the roads. Brian had a Zoom meeting while I ran some errands. We had supper and then watched the replay of our church service.
We went square dancing on Tuesday afternoon. We danced to recordings from Buddy Weaver. There were just over four squares dancing that afternoon. Brian is going to call their dance next week. We did a little shopping on November 29, in Old Downtown Yuma and got some good bargains since it was small business Saturday. We ended up shipping a box of items back to the Maiden’s to save room in our suitcases for our trip back to the Twin Cities in December.
Brian called the dance on December 2nd. There were four squares dancing. Here are some pictures of the dance hall in Yuma.
The park had a contest for decorating your RV. We walked around the park and voted for our favorite one. Here’s some pictures from the park. The cactus is between our motorhome and the one to the left.
We flew back to the Twin Cities on December 19. We drove to Phoenix on December 18 and stayed with Dennis and Terese Farrar that night and they drove us to the airport in the morning. Mike and Sandy Driscoll picked us up at MPS and let us use their van for the week that we were in the Twin Cities. We stayed with Bob and Jeanine Maiden that week.
Saturday December 20, we went to dinner with my stepsister and her husband and then went to the Jolly Promenaders dance in Forest Lake, MN. It was great to see so many of our square dancing friends again. I think we surprised some of them.
Sunday, we drove to Bemidji, MN so that Brian could call the First City Squares dance. It was very cold because the boiler on that part of the church was not working. Brian kept the dancers warm with his selection of calls. A potluck was held after the dance which included some warm chili and a couple of hot dishes. After getting back to our hotel, we walked over to the nearby coffee shop and had a sandwich and some hot cocoa. That really helped us warm up.
Back in the Twin Cities on Monday we took it easy. We did some laundry and got caught up with emails, etc. We had supper with a former co-worker of Debbie’s that evening.
On Tuesday December 23, Brian had a couple of doctor’s appointments and then we met the Driscoll’s and Maiden’s for an early supper at a local dive bar in Bloomington.
Wednesday was Christmas Eve and was a lazy day for us until the evening. We helped usher at our church at the 10:00 pm service. Again, it was great to see people and tell them about our travels. But we didn’t get back “home” until after midnight. On Christmas day, we met some of my family for a late lunch at Perkins in Plymouth. After lunch, we went to a movie with the Driscoll’s. We saw Song Sung Blue. It’s a true story about a husband and wife who did Neil Diamond tribute shows. I recommend it for any Neil Diamond fan.
We flew back to Phoenix on December 26. We got out of the Twin Cities just in time to miss the snowstorm and the cold weather! We watched the reports on Channel 9 and said a prayer for everyone to stay safe and warm.
We hope everyone has a great New Year and stays safe and warm. There’s a party at the RV park with BYOB and appetizers to share. I’ll be bringing bacon wrapped little smokies.
